Cassi
Dedicated to the counterpart of Cassi by Fingers AKA Alias, sabretee@hotmail.com
Perhaps drugs, smugglers, and a cult destroyed your family But the system destroyed You before you could even come to Be. And when your guardian Uncle Cassi committed suicide The five year old that you were hid her soul deep in her mind Taking Cassi's spirit inside. Only a small and vulnerable child Already fearful, fighting, and wild The State gave up and passed you onto a religious home Yet another system of lies who betrayed you to one of their own And under him your crimson virginity flowed. Scream all you want, nobody will listen Neither church or state pay any attention Suffering his violence and abortions for over a year On your thirteenth birthday, all you know is pain and fear Then you find you're the fourth girl this man picked Adding to your hatred for all that's Catholic Can't take anymore of the terror, pain, and rape Call Uncle Cassi's spirit to help you escape She says, "To the Shadows and Streets I'll flee The future can't be any worse than what has already befallen me! And this time I'm not alone, I have become One with Cassi And now he'll stand by my side for all eternity!" Little girl on the run and running fast From the cops, your guardian, your past Trying not to be engulfed by the Hatred of the Streets Cassi will shield you from feeling the constant heat Life, a constant struggle to survive In which only paranoia can keep you alive For survival of the trusting are slim and none Growing numb to all you have seen and done Playing the Game for all that you can get But Trust is a game of Russian Roulette So much heartache and betrayal in your eyes By your fourteenth birthday, you've grown streetwise Outreach vans and counselors say Covenant House will help you But dare you trust the mercy of Catholics over the shelter of the Krew? She says, "To the Shadows and Streets I'll flee The future can't be any worse than what has already befallen me! And this time I'm not alone, I have become One with Cassi And now he'll stand by my side for all eternity!" Dead Uncle Cassi is your inner strength to help you cope And the Krew makes it easier still in a life without Hope: A life of stealing, turning tricks, and selling dope On these cruel city streets where so many have died We can prevent your murder or suicide So stand by your new brothers and sisters in the Krew For unlike everyone else, we'll always look out for you. But is it kind or cruel fate to find Love in a city of Hate? As what was once a terrifying hell becomes unbridled pleasure Fear gives sway to an alien passion you never knew before In a motel room, both of you begging for more Interrupted by an endless knocking on the door Leaping out of bed as the madness begins As several cops come busting in Screaming your Terror and Rage as they place you under arrest "How the hell does the State think they know what's best?" In sexual slavery, they left you to rot But in consent, you were sure to be caught. TYC, CPS, C-House, and back to the street Laughing at a futile system that is its own defeat Then the chaos of the '90 Economic Summit took its toll Finally bringing about a violent and bloody end to it all But in a squat on our last day I heard her say: She says, "To the Shadows and Streets I'll flee The future can't be any worse than what has already befallen me! And this time I'm not alone, I have become One with Cassi And now he'll stand by my side for all eternity!" Where are you now my lost sister, do you still hide in the night? I'm sorry that neither love nor miracles could save us from our plight It is likely that in this life we shall never meet again But my Love for the Krew, and all lost children, shall never end And YOU shall always Be my beloved Sister and Friend© Fingers
